Fabric Selection Guide

Fabric Count Recommendations

I recommend using 28ct or 32ct fabric.
If your chosen design includes a large number of beads—especially Delica beads—28ct is essential, as the slightly larger spacing allows the beads to sit evenly and align beautifully.

All of my designs are stitched 2 over 2, and I do not recommend 14ct or 16ct fabrics. Many of my patterns incorporate 3/4 stitches and petite stitches, which are difficult to execute cleanly on lower-count fabrics and do not showcase the design’s intended level of detail.

Choosing Fabric Colors

Each design is presented with a fabric color that I personally consider the best match for display.
That said, you are absolutely free to choose any color you love—this is where creativity truly begins.

About Hand-Dyed Fabrics

My designs work exceptionally well with hand-dyed fabrics.
The organic, irregular color variations give each piece a unique character that simply can’t be replicated.

Please note that shrinkage varies significantly between hand-dyed fabrics. In practice, a 28ct hand-dyed fabric often measures closer to 30ct. For accurate information, I recommend checking directly with your fabric supplier.

Fabric Materials

Fabric materials are as abundant as stars in the sky—and honestly, I want to try them all.

From my experience, linen is my personal favorite. It performs beautifully with specialty stitches, particularly Algerian Eyelets.
While linen’s uneven hole sizes can feel intimidating at first, consistency ultimately depends on individual stitching tension. Once you become familiar with linen, its strengths and expressive quality truly shine.

For beginners, I recommend Lugana. Its evenly sized holes make it ideal for petite stitches and provide a more controlled, confidence-building stitching experience.
