Rhodes Stitch is one of my favorite specialty stitches, as it can be shaped into countless forms and structures. Through layered threads, it creates a beautifully dimensional effect.
In my designs, you will encounter several variations of Rhodes Stitch, including:
Square Rhodes Stitch
The most classic version and ideal for beginners. You may work clockwise or counter-clockwise, but for consistency, I recommend keeping the same direction and stitch order throughout the design.
Rhodes Heart
A popular variation of the traditional Rhodes Stitch. Once you are comfortable with the basics, this is a wonderful next step. My personal approach is to place the final two stitches at the center of the heart for a cleaner, more symmetrical result.
Half Rhodes Stitch
As the name suggests, this is half of a full Rhodes Stitch. Once the direction and order are decided, it is surprisingly easy to execute.
